Commander Lipp took over as principal in January 2024 after serving as Principal at Fairchild Wheeler’s Aerospace/Hydrospace Engineering magnet school for over ten years. In 2023, he was named the Principal of the Year by Magnet Schools of America for Region 1. (All states north and east of Washington DC).  He has completed all coursework for a Doctorate in Education Leadership.  Before working in Bridgeport, he was the Science Department Chairman at Norwalk High School and a Physical teacher at Stratford High School. While a Stratford High School, he completed coursework at UCONN and became certified as an administrator.

Commander Lipp retired from the Navy after 23 years in August 2004.  During his career, he was assigned to 4 nuclear attack submarines and has been to six continents, all oceans, and even the North Pole. He holds a Master's in Science from the Naval War (National Security) and a Bachelor's in Engineering from SUNY Maritime College (Electrical Engineering).

Having grown up in Connecticut and always living near the sea, he loves sailing, surfing, and stand-up paddle boarding in the summer.  He ice skates and skis during the winter months and loves to explore new places. Most recently, he spent several weeks in Africa on a safari and explored several countries there.
