Where am I Going to High School?
Discovery 8th graders must apply to the various interdistrict high schools, unless they are planning to attend their neighborhood high school in the town in which they live. All other high schools will determine acceptance for the following school year by 7th grade final grades, 7th grade SBAC scores, attendance record, behavior reports, recommendation letters & 1st quarter grades of 8th grade.

Dear 8th Grade Parents and Guardians,
Although the school year has just begun, it's also time to think about high school choices for next year. Discovery Magnet students have automatic entry to Fairchild Wheeler Interdistrict Magnet High School as a freshman, but if you are considering other options, now is the time to begin researching those schools and their application process. There are many high schools, locally and in other districts, that may be appealing. Most of these schools require above average grades, solid standardized test scores, strong effort/conduct marks, and consistent attendance. I strongly encourage you and your child to attend the open houses of schools of interest in order to get a true "feel" for the environment.
Here we have provided brief information about the various high schools, most of which are in Bridgeport. Please know that these are not the only options available. Feel free to explore private schools and/or your district public high schools on your own if that is what you are considering for your child. Please be mindful of application deadlines and that most, if not all, applications are available online.
