• In Kindergarten, I have a Behavior Chart that is located right by the classroom door.  Each child is responsible for his/her cards and will take responsibility for his/her bad choice and move his/her card as needed.  If the card stays on pink, then your child has had a good day and made good choices.  If your child has to be spoken to after a warning, he/she will move the card to green.  If a bad choice continues then the card is moved again to yellow, which means to free time.  If the behavior still continues, then the card is changed to orange and he/she will be sent to the office with a write-up letter.  At this time of the year, your child will have the morning and the afternoon to follow the behavior chart rules.  After lunch, your child will get the chance to make better choices in the afternoon.  For every AM/PM time that the card is on pink, your child will get a "credit" on his/her credit card.  Your child can use their credit card to make a purchase in my classroom store on Fridays.

In kindergarten, we learn alot of new things and one of the most important things that we talk about is manners and respect.

A popular phrase in my class is carpet manners.  What this means is that when we are on the carpet, we are learning and we need to respect other students as well as myself.   Your child will show carpet manners by sitting "criss-cross-applesauce", hands folded and in his/her lap, and sitting quietly.  We also practice using manners by raising a hand and waiting to be called on.
