Edison School

Edison School has been an important part of the community since 1942.  We are fortunate to be a part of a neighborhood school where generations of families have received their education here.  Our school is currently comprised of 13 classrooms of students in grades K-6.  In addition to their core subjects (Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies), students participate in Art, Physical Education, Music, Writing and Enrichment in the Library.

The Edison Instructional Leadership Team consists of our Principal, School Psychologist, Writing/Intervention Teacher and two Special Education Teachers. All our teachers play a critical role in supporting student achievement.  100% of our classrooms are equipped with Promethean Boards that allow students to participate in interactive lessons.  In addition, all students have access to i-Pads and laptops where they are able to participate in educational lessons and activities.

We are currently utilizing Dibels to screen all our students.  This universal screening takes place three times a year (September, January and May).  These results play a critical role in determining what types of intervention our students will receive to meet their individual needs.  All students participate in some level of MTSS (Multi Tiered Systems of Support). 

Students in grades 3-6 will participate in the Connecticut state assessment SBAC (Smarter Balance Assessment Consortium).  Assessments focus on Language Arts and Math.  Results are distributed to schools and shared with parents. 

We pride ourselves on developing good citizens, which is supported by our involvement in PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention Support).  Students are acknowledged for following our Golden Rules of Being Responsible, Being Respectful and Being Safe.  Students collect Eagle Merits and are able to turn them in to our school store for items of their choice.  

Edison School hosts the The Lighthouse program, each day from dismissal to 5:30 PM.
