    Hello Bridgeport Public Schools,

This school year, unlike any other, has been marked by continuous disruptions to our children’s learning, interpersonal interactions, and social-emotional well-being. As a school district, you have risen above the many pandemic challenges to address such disruptions with your commitment and care for the children in the Bridgeport Public Schools. In spite of this year’s enormous challenges, we have continuously strived to reduce opportunity gaps while providing our students with the highest quality educational experience.

As we move forward with our planning for the 2021-22 academic year, I would like to share with you some of our priorities. We will be expected to accelerate learning and advance equity by providing access to supports, resources, and enhanced enrichment experiences for all students beginning this summer. Bridgeport Public Schools is  investing in providing and expanding access to academic support, enrichment and recreational opportunities for students with an emphasis on our most vulnerable children, including those who were most impacted by the pandemic. We must continue to support our students so they will have the opportunity to grow and thrive in the years to come.

I am incredibly thankful for all you have been able to accomplish for our students at such trying times and am confident that we will return this fall even better equipped to continue this critical work. You have all shown how much can be accomplished when we come together as a school community to support our students, families and each other.

I wish you all a very relaxing and invigorating summer,

    Michael J. Testani
