    Hello Bridgeport Public Schools,

The Connecticut State Department of Public Health has released interim guidance for schools.  Please be reminded that these are recommendations and not mandates. This guidance is to help schools prepare for the 2021-22 school year.  Please be aware that we are several weeks away from the opening of school and some items may change.

You can find the guidance here: https://www.bridgeportedu.net/arp

    A few points to highlight:

    • As of today, all students will be required to wear a mask in school buildings and on school buses.
    • All staff who are fully vaccinated will be required to provide proof of vaccination if they do not wish to wear a mask.
    • Cohorting is no longer a requirement but it will be considered in situations where distancing of 3 feet cannot be accomplished or in areas such as the lunchroom where masks will be removed for students to eat.
    • Quarantine guidance has also been changed.  Students in a classroom setting who are at least 3 feet apart, masked and asymptomatic, will no longer need to quarantine if another student tests positive in that classroom.

As I have previously announced, the school year will begin with all students returning to full time in person learning. I will continue to update the entire Bridgeport Public School Community if additional changes are made prior to the start of the school year.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!
