    October 1, 2021

    Good afternoon BPS,

October is Anti-Bullying Month. All our schools will implement measures to bring awareness to acts of unkindness amongst our students. Bullying in all of its forms is unacceptable and has no place in our schools. Social media has made the issue an epidemic amongst our youth with long lasting consequences, such as social isolation, anxiety and depression which, in some severe cases, has led to suicide. The Bridgeport Public Schools will remain committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all children to grow and learn. Every child deserves the right to a bullying free educational environment.

We will continue to work together in our collaborative effort to support all students and families as they navigate through a difficult transition back to school. Please keep an eye out for the events scheduled at the district level and at our schools!

    October 6th Student Success Day
October 20th Read Aloud Day in Grades K-2

    Sincerely,

    Michael J. Testani
    Superintendent of Schools
